Chaque homme a une obligation de se battre

Today I post these drawings in homage to my friend Boualem Sansal, a great writer and a great man. He continues to live in his native Algeria despite repression and harassment. I made these sketches of him in Berlin in 2009, while he read from his novel "Le village de l'Allemand" (published in English as "The German Mujahid"). This spring, Sansal traveled to Israel to attend a literature festival in Jerusalem - something that no other writer from a muslim country has yet dared to do. His latest novel is "Rue Darwin", and you should read it.
